I’ve mostly had issues with parenting. Before I couldn’t figure out how to parent the rigs together. I tried parenting the controllers together before and it didn’t work, but now it does. I’m not sure why. In the end, I found out I needed to parent a lot more than I originally thought which meant I had to go back and edit and ultimately delete a lot of frames (not that I got that far anyway). Eventually I just started twirling the Claire rig to see where else Kayla needed to be parented.
Issues with Arms
Once I parented the chest of the mom with the cog of the child I noticed I had other issues mid animation. The child’s arms weren’t parenting so they moved and dislocated all over the place. I tried parenting the wrists to a number of things including the neck and chest, but they still kept moving. I forgot that Kayla is FK not IK so it didn’t really matter if I parented her wrists. So I tried parenting her arms and still had issues.
Issues with Head
After the arms I realized I had a lot of parenting issues. I finally noticed that her head wasn’t rotating and looked unnatural.
Issues with Legs
Originally I didn’t mind moving the legs with each frame, but it was hard to maintain a nice overlap while doing this. I think I need to parent the legs to the mom somehow so they’re always parallel to the mom. I’m not sure how else I would go about that.
