Week 3: Finding Reference, Deciding Rigs, and Editing Audio

Most of this week I spent editing audio, finding reference, and deciding what rigs I should use. I'm hoping by either next week or the following I can finally start animating. From there I'll try to set up a schedule.

RIGS

These are the two rigs I intend to use. The main reason is because I already have them. I have access to all the Long Winter Rigs because of my group in 545 and I bought the Kayla Rig a year ago since it was only $6 at the time. The thing I like about the Kayla rig is that she can be aged from a toddler to an adult which will definitely come in useful. She's so versatile!

REFERENCE PROGRESS
The other thing I spent a lot of time on was reference. I already have a certain idea of how the second verse should play out. A little girl would be sitting on the ground crying. Her mom would walk up and kneel beside her, rubbing her back. The girl would hug her mom. Then the mom would pick up her daughter and begin twirling while hugging her before holding her out and up. I had trouble creating reference for this scene since I don't know anyone under 18 in Chico. So I decided to look up twirling hugs. The first one I found that I liked was from The Little Mermaid.

However it's less of a hug and more of a holding someone up. That's when I thought of Castle in the Sky.

I like how this is more of a hug and how they embrace. They way they wrap their arms around each other is nice. I'm not a huge fan of how long they spend twirling.

This is probably my favorite. I like how these two characters do a full 360 twirl as well as the overlap done with the legs. I wouldn't have the daughter in my scene be tossed, just held up, but overall I like the timing of their twirl more than the others.

AUDIO PROGRESS
This week I spent more time editing audio. After the critique last week a lot of people agreed that my audio needed to be cuz down to a minute which is really tricky. I want the two verses, but I also don't want the audio to sound choppy which was an issue I had before. Well, it wasn't really an issue so much as it was more time consuming that I thought it would be. I've mostly done editing for interviews and I feel it's easier because you have more control over the content. I can't request a singer to re-sing her song so it suits me better.

Current Lyric Set Up:
You might have a mom, she might be the bomb
But ain't nobody got a mom like mine
Her love's 'til the end, she's my best friend
Ain't nobody got a mom like mine

She my world, she's my heart and there's no denying
I'm her girl no matter what even when I'm lying
She loving me, loving me, loving me, loving me, love
She love me like nobody else
I'm telling you, telling you, telling you, telling you all
She taught me how to love myself

You might have a mom, she might be the bomb
But ain't nobody got a mom like mine

See we go way back, oh, I remember
All the times that I cried, she made me feel better
She loving me, loving me, loving me, loving me, love
She love me like nobody else
I'm telling you, telling you, telling you, telling you all
She taught me how to love myself

You might have a mom, she might be the bomb
But ain't nobody got a mom like mine
Her love's 'til the end, she's my best friend
Ain't nobody got a mom like mine
